Karkala, Jun 7: A tragic accident that took place between a bike and a bus caused death of two persons near Durga High School, Muroor Hirgana here on Friday June 6 night.
The deceased have been identified as Shrinivas Acharya (42) and Sharath Nayak (25), both residents of Hirgana. Shrinivas and Sharat are said to be died on the spot.
The two were riding back home from Karkala town, when a private bus plying from the opposite direction rammed into their bike. The impact of the accident was such that the bike got stuck between the wheels of the bus and Srinivas Acharya was thrown about 30 feet and Sharath Nayak about 20 feet away from the accident spot.
The bus hit the bike in a bid to overtake another vehicle and both the conductor and the driver escaped from the scene soon after the accident.
The body was shifted to Karkala taluk hospital and the bus has been taken into possession.
