Mobile Konkani Bazaar, launched in Mangalore, creating awareness

Mangalore, Jun 3: ‘Mobile Konkani Bazaar’, a van that sells Konkani books and CDs at the doorsteps of the people has arrived in the city. The Bazaar which is an initiative of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy was inaugurated by Vishwas Rebimbus at Kadri Park on Tuesday, June 3.

In his inaugural speech, Vishwas Rebimbus said, “In this era of internet, mobile bazaar is going to be useful to the present generation and will help them reach the city as well as the rural people. This will create awareness about the Konkani language.”

Roy Castelino, President of Konkani Academy mentioned the importance of Mobile Konkani Bazaar and informed that it was inaugurated on May 24 in Bangalore by the Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree.

On this occasion, Janaki Brahmavar, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy, released the book ‘Asthamana’ written by K. Sharadha Bhat.

Mohammed Hanif, president of Beary Sahitya Academy, released the book ‘Pushpamal’ written by Dr Varija Neerabail.

Jonisha Lobo, Mulki and Daphne Covelo were honoured on the occassion for securing good marks in Konkani language.

Sandeep Monteiro, supervisor, Mobile Konkani Bazaar, and van driver Jerome were honored on the occasion.

Stanly Alvaris compeered while Dr. Devdas Pai, welcomed the gathering. Lawrence D’Souza presented the vote of thanks.
