Corporation Bank Convenes 56th Half-Yearly Meeting of TOLIC

Mangalore, May 23: Corporation Bank convened its 56th Half-Yearly Meeting of TOLIC At its Corporate Office in Mangalore. Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Corporation Bank and Chairman of Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Mangalore chaired the Meeting.

In his address, Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Corporation Bank exhorted the member organizations to achieve the targets laid down in the annual programme on Official Language Implementation issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language.  Doing official work in Hindi helps to reach out to the masses, he said. He recalled how Hindi was effectively used for official purposes in pre-independent India.  He suggested that various activities should be held for the propagation of Hindi and that such activities create congenial atmosphere for the implementation of official language in Government Offices. He also emphasized the need to use more technology in the implementation of official language.

Shri G. Guruharinadha Rao, General Manager, Corporation Bank welcomed the gathering.  In his opening remarks Shri Rao stressed the need for Office heads to motivate their staff members to work in official language Hindi.

Shri Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director (Implementation), Regional Implementation Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India reviewed the quarterly progress reports on Official Language implementation submitted by the member organizations and guided them regarding various statutory provisions in respect of implementation of Official Language. He also advised all the member organizations to register and submit their report online to the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dr. Jayanti Prasad Nautiyal, Member Secretary of the Committee & Assistant General Manager, Corporation Bank in his address, presented a report on the activities of the TOLIC, its future plans and highlighted the latest developments in the field of official language implementation.

Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Corporation Bank & Chairman of the Committee handed over the trophies to the best performing institutions in the field of Official Language implementation during the year 2013-14. In the Public Sector Banks’ category, Corporation Bank secured the first prize while Canara Bank and Union Bank of India got second and third prizes respectively. Among Central Government Undertakings, MRPL, BSNL and Airports Authority of India secured first, second and third prize respectively. In the case of Central Government Departments, Employees Provident Fund Organization secured first prize, All India Radio got second prize while Commissioner of Central Customs bagged the third prize.

Shri Amar Lal Daultani, Executive Director of Corporation Bank, Shri Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director, Regional Implementation Office (South), Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Government of India were present on the occasion. Heads of member organizations comprising Central Government Departments, Government Undertakings and Public Sector Banks attended the meeting.
