Skin is part of a person’s identity. Any unusual changes in skin color; complexion is a cause of worry for most people. This not only causes psychological stress, but also many people pursue wrong treatment or get misled by advertisements. For such people it is best to consult a qualified dermatologist who can scientifically diagnose the condition and prescribe effective remedies.

Skin health is often neglected by people and they see a doctor only when the problems become severe. The objective of the camp is to promote skin health and create awareness among the people. The skin camp will screen the people for all types of skin ailments along with giving free medication and medicines, including diagnostic services, lab tests etc. If hospitalization is required for the treatment, then even that is provided free to the patients.

Chronic conditions like Psoriasis, Bullous Disease, Hansen’s disease (leprosy), sexually transmitted infection (STI) will also be treated. If the patient’s condition is severe, further advice, investigation and references will be given for continuing the treatment.

A team of Dermatologists headed by Dr. Narendra J. Shetty, Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology, AJ Institute of Medical Sciences will treat the camp attendees. The medical team will include the best skin specialists and experts in various diseases. For the comfort of the attendees the medical team includes both male and lady doctors. It is hoped that the economically and socially disadvantaged people of the region and the nearly rural areas will benefit greatly from this camp.

AJ Institute of Medical Science, under the guidance of President Mr. A.J. Shetty, has been at forefront of community health services through outreach programmes which are held from time to time. Since inception, the college has been providing free treatment to thousands of economically backward patients every month, including consultation, diagnostics and lab tests, medicine and medication.
