Udupi, May 17: Shobha Karandlaje from Bharatiya Janata Party who won the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Parliamentary Constituency with a margin of 1.42 lacs votes has said that “people have rightfully answered the UPA government, now the congress has learnt its lesson.”
Speaking at a public meet organized in the town on Friday May 16, Shobha said the results have revealed that the people have accepted the Gujarat model of development and want it to be implemented in whole country.
Shobha has defeated heavyweights such as K.Jayaprakash Hegde (Indian National Congress) and V.Dhananjay Kumar (Janata Dal Secular). It may be recalled that few days Karandlaje had also asked her party workers to gear up for victory rally as though she had foreseen the victory. Though Karandlaje was strong contender her victory against Jayaprakash Hegde looked difficult.
She also promised to live up to the expectations of the people, she further added, “the clear mandate given to the BJP has revealed that the people of the nation want the nation to be led by a capable leader.”
Lalaji Mendon. Raghupathi Bhat, former MLAs Mattar Ratnaker Hegde, Yashpal Suvarna and others BJP Leaders were present.
