Udupi, May 15: Udupi police have arrested a group of six for allegedly blackmailing a man after clicking his nude pictures and demanding to pay Rs 20 lakhs and threatening to upload them in social media, if failed to pay.
The arrested are identified as Sandeep (27), Bhagwandas alias Das (31), Gration D’Souza (26), Esha Kumar (33), Shylesh Bangera (33) and Vijendra (35) from Bajjodi in Bikarnakatte Mangalore.
It is learnt that, the six had had forced Brijesh Y J from Yellur near Padubidri in the district to pose for nude pictures and demanded him pay Rs 20 lakhs in a given time. They also threatened to publish nude photographs of Brijesh in newspapers and social websites.
The gang also revealed that they had clicked the photo of Brijesh in drunken stupor and have recently collected the amount of Rs 25,000 from him.
The Padubidri police under the directions of the district superintendent of police and additional superintendent of police, have arrested six members and seized the amount of Rs Rs 25,000, Tata Indica car used for the crime, as well as cell phones from their possession.
Padubidri station in charge, Rakshit Gowda, said that they have also framed a plan to arrest other four members of the gang.
In the complaint, Brijesh stated that the incident took place when he was residing in Mangalore and getting fed up by the blackmailers he left the city and started working in the jewellery shop run by his father at Yellur. But as the gang came to know about his current situation, they called him over phone threatened to expose his photos.
