Udupi, May 7: A women who would have got married in few days has committed suicide by hanging herself on Tuesday night May 6 at Kolambe here.
The deceased lady is Prajna (29), she was the daughter of the late Alevoor Prabhakar Acharya, who was shot dead by assailants outside his Mangala Jewellers located near the bus stand in 2005.
Prajna’s marriage was fixed with a man working and residing in the US. Their engagement ceremony had been conducted by their families without his presence, it is said.
The reason for her extreme step is not yet known. Prajna is learnt to have left behind a death note. Its contents are not disclosed.
The body was shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem. Udupi town police are investigating the case.
