Mangalore, May 06: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy launched two books namely ‘Phool ani Kaanto’ and ‘Meghadoota’ on May 06 in the city.
The books are said to be yet another major contribution to the Konkani literature and contains a great source of knowledge.
Dr. Mark Walder presided over the programme and launched the book ‘Phool ani Kaanto’, in his presidential speech he said that Konkani is the only language having 42 divisions, it should be developed and nurtured. Vitoori Karkala introduced ‘Phool ani Kaanto’ to the gathered.
Shri P.B. Harish Rai, president of Dakshina Kannada District journalists’ Accosiation, launched the book ‘Meghadoota’, the book was introduced by Dr. Arvind Shanbogh.
Dr. Arvind Shanbogh, the translator of Meghdoota and Dr. B. Devdas Pai, Registrar of Konkani Academi were present on the occasion.
Ronald Castellano, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy welcomed the gathering, Smt Mamata Kamat presented the vote of thanks and Dr. Chethan Nayak hosted the programme.
