Beltangady, Apr 30: Around 30 passengers sustained injuries as hi-tech ‘Vaibhav’ luxury bus of KSRTC toppled sideways at Madyala Chadavu near the welcome arch of Dharmasthala on April 29, Tuesday.
The bus was booked by the women and child welfare department, who had sponsored the entourage from Kolar on April 27 and reached Dharmasthala on April 28 and the passengers had stayed there overnight. However, the bus which left the place on Tuesday for Hassan and Belur, met with an accident near Dharmasthala.
It is learnt that the driver had lost control over the vehicle, while passing through Madyala Chadavu and toppled over injuring 30 passengers and three losing their hands as they got stuck under the weight of the bus.
As the news of accident reached the temple and KSRTC Dharmasthala unit, the JCB and Ambulances were summoned to help the injured.
The passengers who recovered from injuries were sent to their native places by KSRTC bus on Tuesday night. The KSRTC had borne the expenses for the treatment and food of the victims.
As per the complaint by bus passengers, a case has been registered against bus driver Naveen Kumar at Beltangady police station.
