Mangalore, Apr 23: Two recovery agents, who went to collect loan installment, were allegedly beaten up by a person at Bajpe on April 22, Tuesday.
The victims are identified as Vignesh Kumar (27) and Vijesh (25) working as a loan recovery agents at Bajaj Finance were assaulted by Mohammed Ali, a resident of Bajpe.
It is learnt that, Ali had taken a loan from the finance company in the name of his daughter Fathima Zohra Mumtaz to purchase a Pulsar bike. Ali had also issued a cheque to pay off the loan installment, which was found bounced.
Ali had given his reference number to the finance company, when contacted him to tell about the cheque bounce, Ali asked him to come to his house to collect the installment money. But when the duo went to Ali’s house, instead of paying them the installment amount, he shouted at them saying that the loan was in Fathima’s name and they have irritated him to his number.
When Vijesh and Vignesh told him to take legal action against him and would have to appear in court. Ali lost his temper and hit Vignesh with a heavy iron rod, injuring severely on the head and Vijesh on the hand.
Vignesh is said to be admitted to a hospital and taking treatment.
Bajpe police are investigating the case.
