Mangalore, April 20: A group of Bhajrangdal activists allegedly assaulted few people who went to Shringeri from Mangalore to bring back the body of cattle transporter Kabeer, who was killed by the ANF police on April 19, Saturday.
It is learnt that a tense situation prevails in the area, as Bhajrangdal activists attacked the men with stones, machetes and wooden clubs in front of police personnel’s.
One of the injured Salam(25) of Jokatte is admitted to a private hospital in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Salaam said that he along with Mohammad Ismail alias Monu, the brother of the deceased Kabir and others were assaulted by the group of 25 to 30 people. Later they were given first aid at the Shringeri hospital.
At the same time, the people of Krishnapura observed a voluntary bundh in the area protesting against the incident by ANF personnel after mistaking him to be a naxalites.
