MANGALORE: The prohibitory orders clamped under Section 144 of CrPC in Golthamajalu gram panchayat limits in Bantwal taluk following group clashes at Kalladka will continue on Sunday too.

The district magistrate had clamped prohibitory orders in the gram panchayat after a verbal duel between two groups ended up in stone pelting on April 10. As many as six persons suffered injuries in the clash. Shops in Kalladka town remained closed on Friday. Additional forces, including paramilitary and BSF personnel, were deployed in the town and surrounding areas.

Superintendent of police Sharanappa SD told STOI that the situation in Kalladka and surrounding areas is peaceful. “As many as five persons, who are involved in the incident, have been arrested. We are verifying the case and soon other accused will also be nabbed,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and former minister B Nagaraj Shetty has alleged that cases under Section 307 (attempt to murder) are being slapped against BJP workers at the behest of Congress leaders in Kalladka.

Responding to this, the SP said: “We book cases based on the complaints and not at the behest of others.”
