Kasargod, March 28: In a suspected case of murder, a body of young man was found buried under sand near to the construction site at Kumble on March 27,Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Shafique (27), son of a former Kumble Gram Panchayat member Ahmed.
According to the locals, they the head of the body was over hanging out of the sand in the evening and immediately informed the Kumble police, who later shifted the body to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
Police said that the body was found with its hands and legs tied and also found 18 stab injuries on the body.
The police also found three pairs of footwear and a bottle of liquor near the body and suspected the involvement of four persons in the murder. The incident may be the act of revenge, since earlier Shafique was accused in a case of kidnap and assault on a tempo driver and also a stoning a house.
According to the sources, Shafique had gone along with a person who arrived at his house in a bike at around 8.30 pm on March 26, Wednesday and had not returned home. But when his mother had called him, someone else received the mobile and replied that Shafique was on his way to Uppala and left his phone for charging.
Investigation is on.
