With their alumni scaling highest echelons of global corporate circles, Manipal Technology Institute, its staff and students, are virtually on cloud nine.
That after Satya Nadella taking over mantle of Microsoft, the institute will see an encore, when Rajeev Suri will ascend the stewardship of Finnish’s telecom conglomarate Nokia, has created ripples on the
campus.
Elated at the impending announcement, an effusive Manipal University Chancellor
Dr Ramdas Pai that their alumni were taking lead all over the world was a happy augury.
In future, MITians will be at the helm of corporate and technology world, Pai said, adding their students have the best infrastructural facilities, which they should make use of as much as possible.
Rajeev Suri graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology in 1989. Pro Chancellor Dr H S Ballal said the university, which is proud of its alumni, is planning to felicitate both by inviting them to the campus in near future. The warden of MIT Hostel Block 3, where Suri boarded during his studies, Prof K Kamalaksha, who was also the Mathematics Head, who taught Suri for two years said Rajeev was hard working and quiet in nature. The project guide, Prof Niranjan said Suri was smart student and independent personality.
He was always dedicated, he added. Prof Narasimha Bhat who taught Instrumentation said in fact he is fortunate to teach Suri. He said Suri’s success is success of Indian education.
The formal education in Manipal is the only strength Suri had and he went on to become head of most renowned company. It is very positive aspect. His sheer determination to work hard has brought him success.
