Uchila; Mar 09: Udupi DC has passed an order to suspend trustee cum chief priest Ganesh Bhat of Uchila Shree Mahalingeshwara temple, near Padubidri in Udupi taluk in connection with the missing of gold ornaments worth more than Rs 50 lakhs recently from the temple’s locker. The new administrator has been appointed in his place instantly.
In the wake of public complaint, when the assistant commissioner of religious Endowment department came and verified on Mar 07, Friday evening, it came to light that gold ornaments worth more than Rs 50 lakhs were missing from the temple’s locker.
A comprehensive report was submitted to district deputy commissioner Dr.Muddumohan on Mar 08, Saturday in this regard. He in turn passed an order to suspend trustee cum chief priest Ganesh Bhat with immediate effect and file a criminal case against him.
Balakrishna Rai, deputy tahsildar was appointed as the new temple’s administrative officer with immediate effect and he will assume the charge effective from Mar 09, Sunday.
