Mangalore, April 18: A dead body of a woman was found in her lover’s house at Bejai-Kapikad on April 17, Wednesday late night.
The deceased has been identified as Anjana, aged 24, a native of Kerala and was working as an assistant manager in syndicate bank, Katipalla branch for the past nine months and was staying with her mother in the bank quarters at Gandhi Nagar, sources said.
It has been reported that she was declared dead in a private hospital on Thursday.Dolpfy D’Souza-owner of the house, in a complaint to the police said that he heard a scream for help at about 11.30 P.M on Wednesday.When he managed to break open the door, he found the woman frothing in the mouth after being strangulated and he rushed her to hospital.
According to Dolfy, Anjana was introduced to him as the fiancée of his tenant Mahesh, when he had objected to her regular visit to the room.
Police sources said that Mahesh, a native of Mumbai, was working in a Mall in the city and got acquainted in the Mall and they were in relationship since then.
Anjana’s mother Prasanna had lodged a missing complaint at Barke police station. Family sources also said that Anjana had contacted her mother at 8.30 p.m to inform them that she was buying Ayurvedic medicine.
Police suspect that Mahesh might have strangled her to death and is now absconding.
Urva police have registered a case in this regard.
