District administration to set up special drive to enroll voters from tomorrow : DC

Mangalore, Mar 8: DC and District Election Officer AB Ibrahim said that special drive for the enrolment of eligible voters with special focus on young voters and first timers will be held at booth level on March 9, Sunday and will continue till March 16.

Speaking at the press meet held at DC office on March 8, Saturday he said that on behalf of election preparation, special camps special camps will be conducted in 1766 booths across the district, since the registration of young voters is one percent.

He also said that the missing names of voters in the list will be enrolled till March 26. The district administration has set up toll free number (1077) to facilitate the public to lodge any election rated or election code of conduct violation related complaint and it will be functioning round the clock.

Around 24 flying squads, 24 sectoral magistrates, eight video viewing teams, 24 video surveillance teams, 24 static surveillance teams and 175 sector officers  have been deployed to monitor political parties activities and ensure that there is no poll code violation. The candidates can spend upto Rs 70 lakhs for campaigning purpose, he added.

DC said that 1766 polling booths, 218 have been identified as hyper sensitive and 442 as sensitive booths.

He also informed that election notification will be issued on March 19 while March 26 is last day of filing nominations and will be scrutinized on March 27. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is on March 29.
