Mangalore, Mar 2: Sullia police arrested a person on Mar 1, Saturday at Adkaru Vinobha Nagar in Jalsoor village in Sullia taluk and seized heroin and counterfeit currency from his possession, said T.P.Shivakumar, additional Superintendent of Police (SP).
The arrested is identified as K M Imtiyaz (30), resident of Sheni village of Enmakaje in Kasargod district. The officials have also seized 120g of heroin worth Rs.76,200 and 148 counterfeit notes of face value Rs 500 and 22 counterfeit notes worth Rs. 31,12,380 from the accused.
Speaking at the press meet held he said that the accused was arrested on NH 88 based on a information of trying to smuggle the items from Puttur to Sullia.
The team of officials headed by Sullia Circle Police Inspector B S Satish, spotted a person in a motorcycle around 9am and asked him to stop for inspection. When the accused tried to speed away, the police personnel intercepted and arrested him.
SP also said that confiscated heroin will be sent for confirmation to FSL at Bangalore.
Probationary DySP Sajeeth and others were also present.
