Udupi: Mahila congress convention; Vajapayee’s portrait is more relevant than Modi in cut-outs-minister Sorake

Udupi; Mar 01: Inaugurating the ‘district women’s congress convention’ held at Ammani Ramanna Shetty auditorium, Vinaya Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district in charge said in his address that BJP is trying to divide the society in the name of religion, caste and race and spoiling the future of the youths.



He further said that Vajpayee’s portrait is more relevant than Modi in the cut-outs.BJP could not solve the problem of BPL cards. Congress has tried to live up to the aspiration of the people by solving 98 promises only in 8 months out of 168 promises mentioned in the  election manifesto. Congress has tried to bring women’s empowerment through reservation. But it did not pass in the Loka Sabha.If opposition party had extended co-operation, women would have received reservation in Loka Sabha and Vidhana sabha, he said.



MP K.Jayaprakash Hegde, MP said that loan waiver programme didn’t take place by BJP in the country. The letter of ownership to the people, who have encroached the government land, was given by Congress. Thereafter programme of allotting land did not take place. The previous government’s 192B policy created confusion among the people. The central government did not put affidavit for areca nut price, he said.



Udupi MLA Pramodh Madhwaraj said that milk subsidy was raised to Rs 4 from Rs 2. Scheme of giving rice to women at Rs 2 per kg and Ksheera Bhagya scheme for children Siddaramaih’s government did. In the BPL card distribution programme Udupi came second place out of 30 districts. Rice at Rs 1 per kg is congress’s contribution.  Waiver of one and half crore shelter loan was done by Siddaramaih’s government.3 thousand crore for the promotion of Modi is spent by Industrialists. By forgetting the hassle, dispute, do the services of the people, he said.
