Udupi; Feb 25: Addressing the District panchayat’s ordinary meeting held in Manipal Rajathadri Dr.V.S.Acharya Auditorium on Feb 25, Tuesday, Katpady Shankar Poojary said in his address that various amendments are coming in relation with CRZ. But Proper information is not being given to the people by the authorities about these amendments, he said.
District Panchayat member Mallika alleged that BPL cards are available against the payment of Rs 500 in village panchayats. The corruption is to behave as one pleases everywhere and in rampant, she added.
Reacting to this District panchayat member Anantha Mavadi said that BPL cards today are being sold in weekly fair (market).BPL cards are all going to rich people’s hand, he said.
One of the department officers said that in any private education institutions, about 25% of the students should be given free education but stay was brought for this rule by the minority education institutions. Replying to this district panchayat president Upendra Nayak said that within 5 years, stay for this rule should not be brought in the schools.
Karkala department officer was taken for task by one of the district panchayat members. He held a war of words against department officer for providing wrong information in one of the books about the retirement of the staff, who supply pump water in village panchayat
