Kundapur; Feb 24: It was alleged on Feb 23, Sunday evening that during the time of Shobhayatre by one Hindu organization, the couple was assaulted by some members in the Shobhayatre and thereby situation became tense for a while. The police, who arrived on the spot, brought the situation under control and took precautionary measures by arranging tight police security.
Details of the incident:
It was said that when Hanif alias Anil along with his wife Naseema was travelling towards Trassi petrol bunk in his two-wheeler from his house in Kodapady,a tipper lorry, which was coming from the opposite direction suddenly came backwards and hit the bike of Hanif.Due to the impact of this,Hanif and his wife Naseema fell down on the road. As Hanif, was questioning with the driver of tipper about the incident, nearby one Shobhayatre was going towards Gangolli. Then some people from the Shobhayatre came and pushed Hanif and came forward to attack him.ThenNaseema, wife of Hanif came to prevent, they pushed her away and started abusing them with filthy language and snatched his mobile, alleged Hanif.
The police, who came immediately on the place, took the statement from the couple and admitted them in the hospital for treatment.
Demand for the arrest:
The enraged crowd demanded for the arrest of the people responsible for the incident and to take appropriate legal action.
Kundapur DYSP, C.B.Patil, circle inspector Divakar P.M, Gangolli station in-charge Annayya Golla, who arrived to the place of incident, brought the situation under control.
Tight police security:-
In the wake of the incident, heavy police security was deployed in the surrounding areas of Gangolli as a precautionary measure to avert any repetition of the incident.2K.S.R.P battalion were deployed at the venue and in-charges, staffs of Kundapur and other police stations have camped at the place.
