Mangalore, Feb 24: Around 30 prisoners of District Prison in Mangalore participated in a chess tournament on February 23, Sunday.
The event was organized for under trials by United Karnataka Chess Association and the jail authorities.
Participating as the chief guest, Chief Judicial Magistrate N.S. Patil said that prisoners must not be ignored solely, since even they are the part of our society.
The players participated in the chess wearing white T-shirts and caps.
Superintendent of the District Prison PS Ramesh, was present on the occasion.
Ravi, Mahesh and Gopal bagged the first three prizes, while Suryakumar and Hamza bagged consolation prices.
