Mangalore, Feb 17: Two youths drowned at Mallamar Beach near NITK, Suratkal on February 16,Sunday.
The deceased are identified as Sriram (22) working n a private company and Ashwin (24), JCB owner and was running ‘Vighneshwara Earth Movers, both residents of Gokul Nagar were friends and were said to be seated on the rocks. The fierce wave which hit them pulled Sriram into the water, while Ashwin who went to rescue his friend also lost his life.
The dead bodies of both friends were recovered after half an hour.
Mutulingam, the third friend and eye witness of the incident said that both had invited him to the beach over the phone and had reached the spot half an hour later.
MLA Moideen Bava, and Rajesh Kulai visited the spot and consoled the bereaved family.
Suratkal police inspector MA Natarajan and head of law and order department Kumaresan, have registered the case. Further investigation is on.
