Mangalore, Feb 8: DC and president of executive board of Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama A.B. Ibrahim flagged off the ‘Netravathi-Phalguni’ Jodukere Kambala at Kambala field in front of Gutturmane on February 8, Saturday.
The event was organized by the district administration in association with Dr. Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama as part of DK district Karavali Utsav.
Over 100 pairs of buffaloes will take part in this Jodukere Kambala. The competitions will be held in different categories such as Negilu senior and junior, Hagga senior and junior, Adda Halage and Kane Halage.
The winners of first and second place will be awarded with the gold coin weighing 1.5 sovereign, 1 sovereign respectively along with certificates from the district administration.
The dignitaries declared open the Kamabala, when the pair of buffalo’s tied in front of the Pilikula Gutthu House ran on the slush track.
MLA JR Lobo, executive director of Pilikula S. Krishnamurthy, Dr. Jeevandhar Ballal of Kambala committee, Rajavarma Ballal, T. Subbayya Shetty of Shetter consultancy, MUDA commissioner Mohammad Nazir, and others were present on the occasion.
