Mangalore, Feb 7: Presiding over the meeting convened of the Visitors Board of the District Prison at DC office on Feb 6, DC A.B. Ibrahim said that CCTV will be installed at the Mangalore District Jail.
He also said that the Government has released the amount of Rs 20 lakhs to put up a modern fencing around the jail compound wall for better security.
He also directed the PWD officials to upgrade jail premises with asphalt and strengthen prisoners’ cells.
DC directed the authorities to fill the vacant posts of medical officer and pharmacist in jail and keep the stock of necessary medicines.
An arrangement must be made of enough police escort to take the under trials to the court for proceedings and also deploy women police officials to escort women under trials.
City Police Commissioner R Hithendra, Jail Superintendent, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, PWD Executive Engineer Gopal Naik were present.
