Mangalore, Feb 4: A man accused of murder two years back was hacked to death by a gang near NITK at Suratkal on February 4, Tuesday.

The deceased is identified as Prakash, an accused in the murder of Kodikere Shivaraj at Jokatte in July 2012.

Reportedly, Prakash was arrested with others after a week of Shivaraj’s murder and was released on bail later on. But he used to come to Panambur police station to sign the register ever since he had received the bail. After the incident, Prakash has left his home located in Kulai and settled down in his home town Kerala.

On Tuesday, when Prakash had come to Panambur police station from Udupi with his father to sign the register and was back to Udupi, a group of men came in Maruti Omni and stopped the bus in front of NIT-K Suratkal, dragged him out bus and hacked to death with the deadly weapons.

The gang has dumped his body on roadside and fled the spot. The body of Prakash was shifted to Wenlock Hospital.

The body has been shifted to the Wenlock Hospital. Suratkal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
