Yettinhole Drinking Water project will be a blunder : Janardhan Poojary

Mangalore, Jan 29: Senior congress leader and Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary urged the government to withdraw the proposed or Yettinhole Drinking Water project or Netravati River Diversion Project, which will destruct the people of the district.

Addressing the press meet held at District Congress Office on Jan 29, Wednesday, he said that although the experts have prepared an alternative drinking water project report, in which the water from K.R.Pura’s Yele Mallappa reservoir can be pumped to Kolar’s Palar reservoir through 32 km long pipeline and water can be provided to the people of Kolar.

He also said that Deputy Commissioner is preparing the project report while minister for health and family welfare UT Khader will supervise it.

Poojary said that the alternative project will cost Rs 230 crore and does not require any land acquisition for laying the pipeline., but as per the given estimation, the Netravati diversion project will cost Rs 10,000 crore and it will be double when it gets completed.

The DC will submit the report to Chief Minister and the work will be implemented as soon as CM gives his approval.

Poojary said that the proposed project will turn hazardous, since district faces water scarcity in the month of April and the Under Ground Water Table will also get depleted creating a huge problem for the district.
