Udupi: S A Chowdayya’s Jayanti programme; inferiority complex in profession not good-Legislator

Udupi; Jan 22: Inaugurating the Shreenijasharana Ambigara Chowdayya’s Jayanti programme, organized jointly by Udupi district administration, district panchayat Kannada and cultural department, held on Jan 21, Tuesday in Udupi Poornaprajna college auditorium, legislator Pramodh Madhwaraj said in his address that whatever the profession may be, a feeling of inferiority is not good. That complexion was driven out by Ambigara Chowdayya in 12th century itself. Therefore we have to develop our self-esteem about profession. Scholarship, knowledge, wealth, race is not important but Chowdayya was the testimony for, knowledge will be able to learn beyond the bounds, he said

He further said that out of 12 thousands of words, (Vachans) for us it is now available 278 words only. We have lost such a phenomenal wealth of Sharana Chowdayya.Now it is our prime duty is to save, whatever the little wealth we got.-, he informed

Today’s students evincing their interest in high profile profession like medical, engineering. They are turning their back on tiresome professions like agriculture and fishing etc.This is the indication of dangers waiting for us in the coming days. Only when Sharan’s ‘Kayakave Kailasa’ principle (work is worship) is repeated, nation can move in the right direction, he said.

Dr.Shreekanth Siddapur, HOD of Kannada division delivered a special lecture and said that purpose of Sharan’s words for blossoming of the soul. For literature, life’s experiences only important not knowledge, Ambigara Chowdayya has taught us.He was getting angry for the people who without serving the hungry people, worshipping distanced God. These all will come to know from his words, he added.

Upendra Nayak, district panchayat president has presided over the function. Chief guests like Udupi taluk panchayat president Gowri Poojarthi,College principal K.Sadashiva Rao, deputy director of P.U education department S.S.Shindha,Udupi tahsildar T.J.Guruprasad,Kannada and cultural department’s deputy director Ankush were present.

Department’s Poornima welcomed, college professor Prajna Marpalli proposed vote of thanks. Professor Manjunatha Karaba hosted the programme.S.M.Meenakshi sang vachan gaayan and dance programme by Udupi Sristikala Kuteera was held.
