Manipal; Jan 21: Condemning the attack on Shirva Christ family by Bajaranga Dal activists in connection with road dispute, state Christ association’s international Vokkoota staged a protest on Jan 20, Monday in front of district commissioner’s office.
According to the sources Bajaranga Dal activists by constructing the wall on the panchayat road, which leads to Shirva Jacintha’s house impeded the movements. In the wake of this, DC had visited the place and asked the activists to remove the wall and warned the accused. Similarly, tahsildar, who too visited the spot and asked the family to send the photo of the people who build the wall again,
Again on Jan 19,Sunday at around 10.30 am in the morning group of people claiming to be Bajaranga activists like Dheeraj Shetty,Vishwanath,Suresh,Sushant,Shiva,Vanaja,Nalini,Subraya,Nithin,Satish,Harish including 50 people built the wall again. At that time Jacintha’s daughter Shweeni came forward to take photo in her camera.Then, accused snatched camera from her hand and attacked her and pulled her clothes.
It was also said that her sister Shruti, brother-in-law Kiran D’Souza and father Philip D’Souza, who went to protect, save Shweeni has also been brutally attacked. Besides they also abused them with foul, filthy languages and given life threatening. But protestors alleged that no action has been taken yet against the accused by the police, it said.
Further protestors alleged that this gruesome attack inflicted on weak, hapless girls, women and minority communities, is a disgraceful act by Bajaranga and demanded for an action against the accused involved in inhumane crime. Thereafter they have submitted a memorandum in this regard to DC and additional SP Santhosh Kumar.
