Mangalore :“There is no bigger language than laughter, as it cuts across all barriers that divide people,” said Sri Devadas Kapikad, “Tulu is a unique language which lends itself very well to comedy.”

The famous Tulu actor was speaking after inaugurating the auditions for ‘Bale Thelipaale Season 2’ Tulu comedy competition at Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, Mangalore on Sunday, 19th January, 2014.

Commending the programme organizers Sri Vijayanath Shetty and NammaTV, Kapikad said ‘Bale Thelipaale’ has opened our eyes to the wealth of local talent. Bale Thelipaale is the most successful Tulu TV show ever, having recorded over 20 lakh hits on You Tube.

Kapikad was accompanied by his son and protégé Arjun Kapikad who said, the show has inspired upcoming actors like him who desire avenue for expressing their talent in Tulu.

His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji, pontiff of Sri Pejavar Math, Udupi graced the production sets and blessed the gathering. “Happiness is essential for everyone in life,” he said, appreciating the efforts of the programme organizers in encouraging the young talents of the region. Sri Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad observed that comedy allows our mind to bloom.

Sri Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Chief Co-ordinator of Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple and Dr Shivasharan, Director of NammaTV are the selection panelists for the auditions. Naveen Shetty is the anchor the programme.

34 teams will participate in the audition every Sunday and Monday. In the second round, the top ten teams will compete with the top ten finalists of ‘Bale Thelipaale Season 1’ for the FIRST PRIZE jackpot of Rs. 2 lakhs.

Other prizes are as follows:

  • Second Prize – Rs. 1.5 lakh
  • Third Prize – Rs. 1 lakh
  • Fourth Prize – Rs. 75,000/-
  • Fifth Prize – Rs. 50,000/-
  • Sixth Prize – Rs. 10,000/-

‘Bale Thelipaale’ is organized by Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple in association with NammaTV. Capsule of the show is telecast on NammaTV every Monday to Friday from 8:15 to 8.45p.m with repeat at 10.30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Date of commencement of telecast will be announced on NammaTV through the regular promos.
