Udupi; Jan 18: There was turmoil amongst the people with regard to Shirur Shree’s participation in the Kaaniyoor Shree’s Paryaya procession by palanquin carried by men on Jan 18, Saturday. The differences of opinion which erupted recently in connection with palanquin carried by men, has become a subject matter amongst the people for debate. Objecting to the system of palanquin carried by the men, it was decided to put full stop to this time.
But objecting to this, Shirur Shree has said in his statement with regret that if the age old system of carrying palanquin carried by men is stopped, he will come by walk in the procession. The tradition of carrying palanquin by men, has been in practice over thousands of years, cannot be stopped abruptly but it does not mean that the practice is correct. However finally, after the involvement of Pejavar Shree, it was compromised to come by vehicle palanquin.
‘Shirur Shree’ in open vehicle:
Paryaya procession was started in the morning. Vehicle palanquins of all the Swamiji’s started following from behind of 10-15 tableaus in the front.In the first 2-3 vehicles ‘Swamijis’ who seated seriously in the palanquin arrived. But the people, who saw one jeep coming far from, became shocked for a moment.Yes,it was none other than Shirur Math’s Laxmivara Shree Padha seated in open jeep coming, waving his hands at people smilingly. There were talks hearing from the people that does this also will happen like this?…!!
Recently only, he said that he will sit vehicle palanquin. But today after seeing ‘Shreeji’ in different look, the people started talking that something is wrong here.
