Mangalore, Jan 13, 2014: Utter confusion prevailed at a protest organised by the Gurupur Block Congress on January 12 Sunday to demand the arrest of senior RSS leader Kalladka Bhat who has been booked for delivering a provocative speech at the Hindu Sangama at Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt recently.
Trouble began when senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojari was addressing the meeting and urged the government to arrest Bhat for his hate speech. Soon a section of the party men raised objection and wanted to know why Poojari could not ensure the arrest of Bhat by pressurising the government instead of merely speaking on public platforms.
Some party men started shouting slogans and even climbed on to the dais. This eventually led to a fracas between two groups of Congress workers who were virtually at blows. When there were no signs of things getting settled down, police resorted to a lathi charge to bring the situation under control.
Several Congress leaders including Ivan D’Souza, KPCC Secretary, Moidin Bava, MLA, Vijayanath Vittal Shetty and others were part of the protest.
