Karkala; Jan 09: Alleging the non-co operation from the administrator of Karkala taluk panchayat to the president with regard to development matters and non-implementation of decisions properly, taken in the taluk panchayat meeting, the members of BJP ruling party have protested and walked out of the meeting. This incident occurred on Jan 09, Thursday and thus abbreviated the meeting halfway.
In the beginning of taluk panchayat’s ordinary meeting, which was chaired by taluk panchayat’s president Rashmi Shetty, cheques as encouragement money have been distributed to the farmers on behalf of silk department and then the activities of the programmes started.
Eligible beneficiaries are facing too much of problems due to confusion over G.P.S. of approved houses under Basava accommodation programme, and delay in re-opening of blocked lists and demanded an immediate measures in this regard.
Besides, BPL ration cards are not being reached to eligible benefactors but instead it has become the share of the rich people. Though the people went to panchayat and took the photos and all the formalities have been completed for obtaining ration card, PDOs and village accountant making considerable delay in preparing report and Xavier D’Mello demanded an action against those erring officers in the meeting. Replying to this, Chandrashekaran, official from food department said in his address that already Biometric has been done and for the remaining applicants, applications will be cleared by 31st of January and by February 15th, ration cards will be distributed, he said
One private party is claiming that the 84 cents of land, where rickshaw parking place is there, is of his Patta land. In this regard, taluk panchayat should conduct survey, if it has been found to be encroached, should be opened, demands Vikrama Hegde.
Besides, it has been brought to the attention of meeting that government buildings, those have been fallen idle are now under private parties and those building should be taken under the custody of respective panchayats,
Further,Sujit Shetty said in his speech that in spite of informing several times, ponds that formed on the road in Mundli obstructing the movement of the public have not been repaired yet. In this regard, members and president said that decisions taken about the programmes in the taluk panchayat meetings have not been implemented properly. Only for name sake meetings are being taking place without any results and therefore by saying we are protesting and walked out of the meeting.
President and vice president after walked out of the meeting, opposition member Sujit Shetty and Xavier D’Mello, with quorum, continued the meeting. Therefore in spite of walking out of the meeting, working committee officer Chennappa Moily has been requested to carry out the meeting. But in the wake of almost all the members have walked out of the meeting, working committee officer has adjourned the meeting.
On the occasion standing committee president Praveen Salian, tahsildar Babu Devadiga, vice president Mapalu Jayaverma Jain were present.
