MCC to be vested with power to approve house constrn in single sites upto 10 cents

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2014: The Mangalore Urban Development Authority has decided to send a proposal to the State Government  wherein the Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner will be vested with the  authority to approve  house construction in single sites upto  ten cents in MCC limits.

This was resolved at a MUDA meeting held on January 8, Wednesday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim who is also the MUDA Administrative Officer. The proposal envisages permitting construction of only one house in a single site upto ten cents.

However, the MCC Commissioner will not have authority to approve construction of a separate house by way of an additional floor in the same building. However, the final decision will be left to the government, the DC said.

K Abhayachandra Jain, State Minister for Fisheries and Youth Services said the proposal would go a long way in solving the problems faced by the public due to single site rules.

The Deputy Commissioner informed on the occasion that the MUDA has prepared a detailed project report  of developing the  deer park  at a cost o Rs 4.83 crore. The project envisages  construction of a musical fountain, laser show arrangements etc.

JR Lobo, MLA who also spoke, suggested forming of a separate society for the maintenance of the park.

The meet also resolved to send a proposal to the government seeking its administrative approval for development of a housing layout in the 72 acre land purchased by MUDA in Chelairu village.

Capt Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandari, MLCs, Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Commissioner, Abdul Nazeer, MUDA Commissioner and others were present.
