Mangalore, Jan 5: B Ramanath Rai, State minister for forest, environment and ecology and DK district in-charge minister inaugurated the National Book Fair at Nehru Maidan on Jan 4, Saturday.
The exhibition was organized by National Book Trust, India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India, in association with Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the exhibition will adopt the reading habit in the people even during the internet era.
MLA J R Lobo, presided over the event and said that reading habits and enhances knowledge and values.
Basti Vaman Shenoy, president of the Foundation’s Executive Committee and founder of World Konkani Centre said that the fair consists of 60 stalls which would help students, academicians, and teachers.
NBT regional manager Amit Karki and NBT editor (Kannada) H Nagarajappa, were present on the dais.
