Udupi; Dec 30: National disaster reduction day celebration and rally was organized on Dec 28, Saturday jointly by Udupi district Home-guard brigade, fire brigade, 108 emergency service and Kaup Dandathirtha high school in Kaup Dandathirtha school ground.
Inaugurating the programme.Udupi district additional superintendent of Police Santhosh Kumar said in his speech that there are two types of disasters. One is man made and another is natural disaster. Both disasters can be prevented to some extent. Therefore in this regard, students should be given proper information about it, he said.
Dr.Prabhakara Shetty, Convener of Dandathirtha School has presided over the function.
Chief guests like college principal Alwyn Rodrigues, KMF former president Kaup Divakara Shetty, Dr.Prashanth Shetty, commander of udupi district home guard department, Dasi Dias from district police commissioner’s office were participated.
Kaup circle inspector Sunil Y Nayak, crime PSI Laxman Nayak, SI Rajendra Nayak, Sadashiva Shettigar, fire brigade official were present on the occasion.
Ramesh, deputy commander of home guard welcomed the gathering, vice Principal Neelananda Nayak proposed vote of thanks. Professor Shivanna Baayar compered the programme.
Thereafter when the various disasters happen, method to tackle, about the duty to perform when explosion occurs, fire brigade, home guard brigade, 108 ambulance services were demonstrated through police staff and made aware of the responsibilities.
