Udupi; Dec 30: The valedictory function of three days seminar on ‘Udupi 360 degree-next step’ organized under the auspices of Udupi district administration in Manipal Rajatadri Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium was held on Dec 29,Sunday.
While speaking, DC Dr.M.T.Reju said that symposium would be useful to think one step further than the earlier thinking with regard to Udupi district related problems.
In this seminar not only about infrastructure but also about people in general including environment issues and other allied fields discussions were also held. The documentation of 27 approved essays will be held within 10.15 days, he said.
He further said that in Udupi there is an ample scope for information Technology. But in Mangalore, 40% of reserved vacancies still not filled. Therefore in order to reach Udupi, it might take another 15 years, he added
He also said that only when the sand trading is done in limit, our rivers can saved. In Kerala out of 44 rivers, where sand tradings were being conducted, 22 rivers have completely dried up. This is a live example for this. Therefore mechanized sand trading is harmful to the rivers. In this regard, we have to take an extra precaution, he said.
On the occasion Dr.Ravindranath Shanbaug as a reconciliator, Manipal Tyapmiya head master Dr.Shivakumar, Somashekar Bhat were present.Ashok Kamath, education official compered the programme.
