Mangalore, Dec 28, 2013: Will the Air India Express suspend its direct flight services between Mangalore and Kuwait in February..? Such a question is now haunting the minds of frequent travellers on the route. The Air India Express used to operate Mangalore-Kuwait-Kochi flights thrice a week.
According to one source, Air India Express is sure to suspend services on the sector for different reasons. However, Mangalore International Airport authorities make it clear that they do not have any information.
On the other hand even Air India personnel too express doubts but say they do not have any official information.
PB Pinto, President of Gulf NRI Forum-Kuwait while pointing out that the Mangalore-Kuwait direct flight services was introduced after persistent demand and agitations, said in the event of the suspension of the direct flight services it will affect thousands while also creating air cargo problems in Mangalore. He further said as no bookings are done for the flight this was an indication of suspension of the services.
Continuing, he said Air India is citing reasons like the aircraft leasing period has expired, etc and added that the Forum has already met Union Minister Veerappa Moily and has requested him not to suspend the direct flight services.
