Kundapur; Dec 24: Under the auspices of Karnataka dalit sangharsha samiti® (Bheemavadhi) Kundapur unit, a massive protest rally and meet was organized on Dec 23 in Kundapur demanding the fulfillment of their various demands.
It demanded the suspension of officials, who are showing delinquencies in delivering the government programmes to poor, the district administration, which bring bad name to the government, encroached government land and by not opening the waived land by DC and not issuing letter of rights to the dwellers in government lands, by giving Dalit’s Ambedkar Bhavan to private software company and put restriction on dalit community’s activities and preventing dalit’s entry by Udupi DC,Kundapur tahsildar and social welfare officials and register criminal case against them
Addressing the protestors, Raju.M.Talavar, Karnataka dalit sangharsha samiti (bheemavadha) state sangahatana convener said in his speech that Congress party, which ruled the country for 60 years, did not made any attempt in availing dalit’s land to them. By collecting public money in the name of tax,in the same money government is giving rice at Re 1,for the political mileage and thereby depriving of poor people’s eligible government rights, which is unfortunate and deplorable, he said.
Further he alleged that though honorable chief minister claims that government is working on behalf of poor and dalit’s, in reality he has not implemented any programme for the benefit of Dalits.The officials who are supposed to work on behalf of public, are now showing indifferent attitude of casteism. With the wicked intention of Ambedkar struggle should not occur and activities, programmes should not organize, they have prevented the entry of Dalits to Ambedkar Bhavan.If Dalit keep quiet tolerating all these injustices, oppression will not stop.He called for all the Dalits, not to sit idle, silent instead they have to get into the street and fight, then only it is possible to get our eligible rights.
Udaya Kumar Tallur, convener of state sanghatana samiti of dalit sangharsha samiti while addressing the protestors said that authorities are behaving as per their wish, thinking that we are all sheeps.But authorities and government should understand that dalits are not sheeps, they are tigers. In democratic country, citizens only rulers and from them only Government, they must realize. The government is by the people, of the people and for the people.
In udupi district thousands of acres of land has been encroached. Immediately by opening these encroached lands, order has to be passed to distribute to dalit people. letter of rights to be given to dalits.An immediate order has to be passed to fill vacant vacancies in Udupi district social welfare department for authorities and workers.
A memorandum has been submitted by protestors on the occasion.
From Kidnapper shastri circle to taluk office near new bus stand, a massive rally and procession was organized. In sub divisional office, through tahsildar Basava Poojary memorandum was submitted to chief minister, social welfare department, Kundapur sub divisional officer and district administration.
