Kundapur; Dec 19: The police have arrested a youth on Dec 18, Wednesday for raping a minor girl thrice with the promise of marrying her and finally deceived her due to his family’s threatening.
The arrested youth has been identified as Chetan, aged 22, a resident of Moodugopady.

Sources said that for the past two years, Chetan had been playing a drama of love to a 17 year –old- girl from Vakwady and making false promises of marrying her and used to take her various places like Manipal’s End point and Kollur and rape her there. In this way, he raped that minor girl thrice.
However last week, family of the youth came to know about the matter and immediately they held a meeting with local political leaders questioning the girl’s character. They convinced Chetan to leave the girl and sent him to Bangalore.
Due to Chetan family’s intense opposition for the marriage, frightened girl fell ill and slipped into depression and admitted to Koteshwar hospital and incident of rape revealed there. Hospital’s doctors informed the matter to Kundapur police.
Under the guidance of Kundapur DYSP, C.B.Patil, the police team led by circle inspector P.M.Divakara and under the leadership of SI Jayarama .D.Gowda and team started searching for the accused. On Dec 19, Thursday Chetan was apprehended and produced in court and courtremanded him under judicial custody for 15 days.
