Aadhaar-based direct cash subsidy project for LPG to be implemented in DK from Jan 1

Mangalore, Dec. 17: “From January 1 next year 3.7 lac LPG consumers will brought under Aadhaar-based direct subsidy (cash) transfer project. Once the bank account is linked the National Payment Corporation of India will deposit the subsidy directly.” said Thulasi Madineni, inc-charge deputy commissioner during the District level implementation Committee meeting held on Monday, December 16.

“Consumers have time till March 31 to furnish their details to the dealers. The Aadhaar details should be provided first and later the account linked.” Madineni said.

“The dealers cannot refuse to deliver domestic cylinders in case consumer has not furnished the details.” she added.

She said that as many as 8.71 lakh people have been given Aadhaar cards and 9.52 lakh have National Population Registry (NPR) cards. Thulasi observed that LPG dealers cannot refuse to deliver domestic LPG cylinders in case a consumer has not furnished Aadhaar card details. If the consumer gives the Aadhaar card details, such consumers will be eligible for gas subsidy,” she said.

Indian Oil Company official Govind said that the subsidy amount will be deposited in the consumer’s bank account with four days after the cylinder delivery.

Food and civil supply department deputy director Sharanabasappa. Lead Bank manager Amarnath Hegde, and other officers and representatives of oil companies were present.
