R.Hithendra takes charge as Police Commissioner of Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec. 16: R. Hithendra, new Police Commissioner, Mangalore District took charge from Manish Karbikar, outgoing Police Commissioner on Monday, December 16.

Addressing the media persons Hithendra said that “at present only one Court in Mangalore will be equipped with Video Conferencing facility, it should be extended to all the Courts;” he said.

He further said that “communal violence and underworld are on a rise in Dakshina Kannada District, the challenge would be control these activities and maintain peace and order.”

When asked about conflicts among jail inmates he said, “There are three main groups among the jail inmates and we have separated them. We cannot shift everyone to Bellary or Bangalore prisons as they have to be produced in the courts here. Only court in the city has video conference facility, and hence it would be a problem.”

Hithendra also sought the co-operation of Media in controlling anti-social elements in the society.
