Vittal Shetty to receive Pathala award on Apr 14

MANGALORE: The Sri PathalaYakshaPratishtana, Edaneeru has chosen eminent dance teacher VittalShetty for the Pathala award. Sri KeshavanandaBharathi, head of Sri Edaneeru Mutt will confer the award on VittalShetty at Sri Krishna SabhaBhavan of the Mutt near here on Sunday. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5,000, and a citation. The foundation has honoured leading names in the field of Yakshagana with this award for the past eight years.

Past recipients of the award include Kateel Purushottam Bhat, Kadaba Santhappa, Peruvodi Narayana Bhat, Kodakallu Gopalakrishna Bhat, Kudan Gopalakrishna Bhat, Margoli Govinda Serigar, MK Ramesh Acharya, and Kokkada Eshwar Bhat. The award is instituted in memory of senior Yakshagana artiste, Pathala Venkataramana Bhat.
