Mangalore, Dec. 12: A two-day seminar on the topic, “Nuclear Energy for a Better Society” was inaugurated by Padmashree award winner, Dr Sharad Kale, Head, TT and CD at BARC in Mumbai at the Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College on December 12, Thursday morning.
The seminar organised by the College in association with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and aimed at creating awareness on the positive effects of nuclear energy was.
After inaugurating Dr Kale said, “There are misconceptions about the safety of nuclear reactors, but if it is used for the right purpose there is more positivity than negativity.”
Dr SF D’Souza, said that, “Awareness must be created about the positive effects of nuclear energy among the youth. The concept of Atomic energy must be clear so that the beneficial features can be put to use.”
Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions presided over the function. Fr Sweebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College delivered the welcomed. Dr Narayan Bhat, convener delivered the vote of the thanks.
