Subrahmanya, Dec.8: Over one thousand devotees offered the controversial Made Madasnana ritual as a harake at the Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple on December 7, Saturday even amid the raging opposition to the superstitious practice and the demand to ban the same.
As media men had arrived in large numbers to report the controversial practice, confusion prevailed at the temple precincts for some time and the scribes and photographers were finally requested to remain at the Dwadashi mantap which eventually turned out to be a media gallery.
Several officials, tahsildar, hundreds of police personnel as well as Home Guards were present to prevent any untoward incident.
