Mangalore, Dec. 8: The felicitation ceremony of ‘A’ grade artist of Akashavani, Nagaswara Visharada Sri Nagesh A Bappanadu held on Saturday, Dec.7 at Sri Dhramasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College auditorium.
Central petroleum and natural gas minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily presided over the function. In his presidential address he said that only through hard work, dedication, interest and humbleness one can achieve success in the life.
He further said that through hard work only some can succeed in the field of music and art. Through music we can get peace, concentration to the mind he added.
Udupi Shri Pejavara Math Shri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji grace and inaugurated the occasion. Then he said that spirituality and fine arts are the two faces of Indian culture. By developing these two will help to the progress of the society. Nagesh A Bappanadu achieved a lot in the field of Nagaswara. And he is the ‘Nageshwara’ in thr Nagaswara music field.
Then the committee felicitate Nagesh A Bappanadu and his wife in the occasion.
Popular Saxophone player ‘Kalaimamani’ ‘Padmashri’ Dr. Kadri Gopalnath and Nityananda Rao, secretary of Mani Accademy proposed felicitation speech. President of Nagesh A Bappanadu felicitation committee Capt. Ganesh Karnik delivered key note address. Honorary president Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punarooru welcomed. In the same occasion Nagaswara music programme was held by Kalashri Vidwan Sri Annu Devadiga Dharmasthala.
After the formal function ‘Nritya Ratna’ Vidhushi Srmt. Rashmi Chidananda and district Rajyotsava Award winner Srmt. Geeta Saralaya staged ‘Yugala Nritya’, ‘Nritya-Sata’.
Brief history of Nagesh A Bappanadu:
Nagesh A Bappanadu is a popular Nagaswara player. He is the son of Nagaswara player Annu Sherigar and Appi Annu Sherigar. He has born on 1962. His wife is Shri Latha. Vaishnavi and Vignesh are his children.
He started his primary music education in his father. They he learned from Munivenkatappa of Bangalore. And completed his higher education from Kalaimamani Kivulooru N. G. Ganeshan. He is serving as a Nagaswara player at Bappanadu Shri Durga Parammeshwaari Temple from last 35 years. He is the A grade artist of Akashavani.
Awards: In 1994-‘Karnataka Rajyotsava’, ‘Asthana Vidwamsa’ by Kamakoti Peeta, ‘Nagaswara Visharada’ by Udupi Shri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji.
He also gave jugal bandi programme with Vitala Ramamurty and Usthad Rafeek Khan.
