Jagruthi Vedike staged a day long hunger strike against Made Snana

Mangalore, Dec. 7: The Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagruthi Vedike staged a day long hunger strike against controversial “Made Snana” rituals in front of the DC office on Saturday, Dec.7.

Addressing the protestors, KS Shivaramu, State President of the Vedike said the superstitious ritual like Made snana held at Kukke Subramanya Temple during the Champa Shasti should be opposed. These rituals are nothing but an inhuman act he added.

He further said that from last four years we are protesting against this inhuman act. But now also this superstitious act taking place at Subramanya. Other superstitious practices like Bethale Seve have been banned in the better interests of mankind. Like that this act also should be banned. So we will protest till this ritual is prohibited, he added.

Sri Basavaraj Devaru from Revanasiddheshwara Mahamutt said, “Peace, Equality, individuality should be maintained in the society. The political leaders have not shown any interest about this issue. The govt gave state that people have freedom in everything; in this practices also if they do not want the practice they should not do it. But that is wrong; it is the responsibility of the government to educate the people against this superstition he added.

In the name of ‘Made Snana’ our culture is insulted. It is our humble request that the Supreme Court and the government stand against such in-human practice, said Sri Rachoti Shivaacharya Swamiji.

The Vedike urged the Supreme Court as well as the High Court to ban Made Snana ritual and demanded death penalty to those who encourage such practices.
