Karkala; Dec 05: It is about 2.91 km length of the bypass road. It was for the last 15 years, without even tar on the road, travel on this road even by walk has become herculean task. In view of making this road, which passes through forest to multipurpose and more useful road, government has released a correct grant- in-aid of Rs 1.49 crore for this road.
But in this, such a big project, what happened was jut cheating, resulting within few months after the completion of concretization work, again patch works had to be carried out.This is the plight of Andaru-Kaduhole concrete road. Besides public have become outrageous, angry after seeing the poor quality of the new concrete road.
The connecting road of this Andaru-Kaduhole road, which is something insurmountable even for walk without tar for the last 15 years. In order to make this 2.91 km road complete concretization, the previous government has released Rs 1.49 crore under “Namma Grama, Namma Rasthe” scheme. But now it is before the opening ceremony only, by carrying out patch works, conspiracy is being going on to claim full amount of money from the government, it is alleged.
Udaya Shetty, contractor from Muniyalu got this job through tender process. But giant project like this should have been completed in eleven months time from the date of the starting but contractor has completed this job within four months in great hurry.
Besides after the completion of the works, authorities have used authorized board. According to the rule one engineer has to be deployed in the work place and he has to monitor the work progress, which includes to recording of raw materials consumed.
But here in this case, engineers who are supposed to be at the work place were missing. This will attribute for the poor quality of works and created a room for suspicion. It was also alleged that at the time of concrete mixing, gravel dust (quarry dust) might have been added in large amount, resulting crack on the new concrete road.The villagers have demanded for the complete and comprehensive investigation in this illegal transaction.
Though there was a guarantee period of five years, now only few months have been completed after the completion of the project, now it has become a million dollar question whether this road will last for five years?
Therefore concerned authorities from the department should awake from their slumber .come forward and take an immediate action against those who have erred in their responsibilities.
