Karkala;Dec 03: Ten years ago in Bollottu of Idhu village in Karkala taluk at the slope of western mountain, after confirmed information, police team raided the house of Ramappa Poojary,where Naxals were taking shelter and killed two naxals in an encounter. It was the first kind of naxal encounter in Karnataka state.
Therefore higher authorities from the state and elected representatives visited the region and infused courage and confidence in people. Besides they also promised about the development work in the region and giving compensation to Ramappa Poojary’s house.
Besides they also promised to construct a bridge in Khandige, one of the many demands of the people and connecting road from Naravi to Bollottu.There are no basic infrastructures in the region, where more of the poor people are dwelling. Most urgent demands like roads, bridges, government buses, health care centers, ration distribution shops, scarcity of school teachers. Though Grant-in-aid which is being released by the government for the development of naxal affected region, it is not reaching to the region and hence no solutions in the sight for the problems of the people.
Though hundreds of times, reguests have been made in the past and is being continue publishing about the people’s problems in the news papers, dailies, the development of this region remains as mirage.
Therefore residents of Idhu village have earnestly requested chief minister in a lengthy letter at least to give predominance for the development of this region.
