Kerala Chief Minister will lay foundation for medical college at Kasargod

Kasargod, Nov 27: Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy will lay foundation stone for medical college at Kasargod on November 30.

State minister of health V S Shivakumar will preside over the programme.

The well equipped medical college will be built at a cost of Rs 283 crore. An area of 65 acres is identified to build the college. A hospital of 300 beds will be constructed in the first stage of the project. The construction will be undertaken with NABARD aid.

Necessary roads, borewells have been dug for the construction. The medical college will consist of sixteen divisions including hospital, college, electricity substation etc.

The project has been undertaken by Kitco. Dr P G R Pillai has been appointed as special officer to supervise the college construction.

The medical college and hospital is coming up in an endosulfan-affected area. Till now the ensdosulfan victims were depending on Mangalore’s hospitals. A hospital in the area will be highly beneficial to them.

Considering strong protests by the opposition with regard to solar scam there will be tight security at the programme taking place.
